Two million euro EU-funded Twinning project have been awarded for Lithuania - Hungary consortium

Vilnius, 17 March. Central Project Management Agency (CPMA), together with the Ministry of Finance in Lithuania and the Hungarian partners have been awarded for the Twinning project  "Enhancement of capacity for effective management of EU Cohesion policy funds”.

The overall objective of this project is to contribute to effective implementation and management of EU Cohesion policy funds in Croatia, in line with the EU requirements.
The aim of two million euro EU-funded project is to increase capacity for overall coordination of the implementation of Structural Funds and the Cohesion Fund (SCF) in Croatia, technically correct and effective financial management of funds, systematic and effective monitoring of SF programmes.

Project will consist of two 2 components:
Component 1: Effective coordination of structural instruments through support to CODEF as the future NSRF Coordinating Authority and to future Managing Authorities;
Component 2: Effective financial management of structural instruments and preparation for Compliance Assessment for Cohesion Policy in Croatia.

The Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Lithuania, the Central Project Management Agency and National Development Agency in Hungary  are ready to share their experience accumulated and contribute, particularly with the help of the project, in the field of building long term capacity at strategic and operational levels within relevant Croatian institutions regarding overall coordination of the implementation of Structural Funds and the Cohesion Fund (SCF) in Croatia, technically correct and effective financial management of funds, systematic and effective monitoring of SF programmes.

In addition to Lithuania and Hungary consortium, proposals from France/ Poland, Slovakia /Germany / Italy and  Spain/ the Czech Republic have been submitted.

For this project, CPMA will delegate long term and short term experts and also carry out the overall project management function.

Project duration will be 24 months and it is planned to sign the Twinning Contract already in June 2011.
