Project purpose: to support the State Agency on Nuclear and Radiological Activity Regulations under the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Azerbaijan (SANRAR) in development of the radiation safety culture, infrastructure and supporting services in accordance with the best available EU practice and legislation as well as international guidance. This will strengthen surveillance of exposures from ionizing radiation to workers, patients, general public and create a system for information and training on issues related to radiation safety and radiological emergency preparedness. The harmonization of national legislation will contribute to monitoring of occupational exposure, radioactive contamination of foodstuff, their raw materials and substances, which may influence exposure, evaluation of indoor radiation situation in region with higher radiation risk, and to preparation for the establishment and further accreditation of the laboratory of the SANRAR.
