CPMA shared 20 years of experience in managing the EU Twinning Projects

On November 9-10th, public sector representatives from Finland, the Netherlands, Estonia, Belgium, and Lithuania deepened their knowledge on the preparation and management of the EU Twinning project proposals in a distance two-day learning course organized by the Central Project Management Agency (CPMA). Learning sessions were delivered by the experts from CPMA International Development Cooperation Project Unit – Senior Project Managers Ugnė Chmeliauskaitė and Gintaras Makštutis, and Project Manager Klemensas Mažeika.

Participants were introduced to the main principles of preparation of Twinning proposals, project communication, and administration procedures. With more than 20 years experience working with the EU Twinning Programme, the CPMA experts introduced their remote project management experience and tips on how to ensure smooth project implementation.

"Through the training, we have the opportunity to discuss with colleagues from other countries about the challenges of implementing EU Twinning projects and exchange best practices, thus not only sharing our knowledge but also gaining new ideas that we can implement in our daily work." – said Gintaras Makštutis, CPMA Senior Project Manager. "It’s great to know that Lithuania was the only EU country organising such training in 2021."

Since 2009 The CPMA has won and implemented 58 EU Twinning projects. According to the European Commission, Lithuania is among the most successful European Union countries, such as France, Italy, Germany, Spain, and Austria in terms of winning tenders for the implementation of EU Twinning projects (according to the European Commission data, 2020).

The Central Project Management Agency, Lithuania has been functioning as international training center for the EU Twinning projects since 2010, during that time more than 600 participants were trained.
